Dopo un decennio di revival anni '80 basato soprattutto sul versante post-punk/wave o sulle atmosfere dream-gaze, nell'ultimo periodo si stanno riscoprendo le jangle-guitars, anch'esse simbolo degli eighties e passaggio fondamentale nella modellazione iniziale dell'indie pop.
Dalle cult band The Field Mice, Felt, The Go-Betweens, House Of Love fino ai big assoluti R.E.M., Smiths o Stone Roses le chitarre jingle jangle di derivazione anni '60 (The Byrds su tutti) sono state la linea di congiunzione di un macro-movimento spesso dimenticato.
Band come The Drums, Veronica Falls, Radio Dept. e soprattutto Real Estate negli ultimi anni hanno aggiornato l'utilizzo delle sonorità jangly ai nostri giorni, ma è nel 2012 che sono tornate ufficialmente di moda, tanto che persino gli A Place To Bury Strangers di Dissolved ne hanno subito il fascino.
