Apparition Paintings è il nuovo lavoro in studio di David Toop, in uscita l’11 settembre via Room40. Un disco di composizione avant, frutto del sincretismo culturale che, come specifica il musicista nella nota stampa, parla in «linguaggio d’amore e desiderio rivolto a tutti gli incoscienti, gli speculativi, gli ancestrali, i dimenticati, i diversi, gli estinti, gli inimmaginabili lontani e vasti, gli incomprensibilmente piccoli e intimamente vicini».
Il titolo dell’album deriva da una tecnica di pittura cinese del XII e XIII secolo. Ad anticiparlo, le tracce You Could Touch Him But He Wasn’t There e Suddenly the World Had Dropped Away, quest’ultima accompagnata dal relativo video.
