Animus

In uscita il 23 febbraio 2018 via NAAFI, Animus è l’album di debutto della producer messicana di stanza a New York Debit nonché il primo album in assoluto dell’etichetta e collettivo N.A.A.F.I. Ispirato dal libro Donne che corrono coi lupi di Clarissa Pinkola Estès, il disco si riconnette idealmente al lavoro di Fatima Al Qadiri mettendo in dialettica sonorità ambient, post-grime e tensioni dance contemporanee, e immergendole in una Dark Ecology ritmata su oscuri tribalismi industriali, contrappuntata da alieni sample vocali e, alla bisogna, immersa in distopiche carcasse dancehall. Ospiti: Wasted Fates e Zutzut.

A FACT la producer ha raccontato il mistico/sociologico concept dietro al disco; vi riportiamo una citazione in lingua originale per preservarne il tono e le sfumature: «It is the masculine energy in women and the struggle of finding and placating this energy within yourself as a process of empowerment. I was thinking about gender and how we represent ourselves sexually, reconciling the personal with the societal. A strong animus helps us travel between an underworld and top-side world. The album provides sounds that facilitate this journey. We hear both the static and clashing of the psychological underworld, and the “beat” – beating heart, flesh – of the top-side, physical world. The music is my own exploration of what inside me can travel between worlds».
