L’ottantaseiesima edizione degli Academy Awards sarà sicuramente ricordata per il trionfo di Paolo Sorrentino. Il lungometraggio La Grande Bellezza si è infatti aggiudicato il premio come “Best Foreign Language Film”, miglior film in lingua straniera, vittoria particolarmente significativa se si pensa che erano 15 anni, precisamente da quando nel 1999 Roberto Benigni si aggiudicò tre oscar con La Vita è bella (miglior film straniero, miglior attore protagonista, miglior colonna sonora), che l’Italia non vinceva. L’ultima nomination risaliva a ben otto anni fa con La bestia nel cuore di Cristina Comencini.
Da un punto di vista strettamente musicale, i momenti significativi dell’ultima notte degli Oscar hanno riguardato i tre premi a Gravity (miglior colonna sonora originale, miglior sound editing e miglior sound mixing) e l’Oscar a Let It Go interpretata da Idina Menzel – soundtrack di Frozen – per la miglior canzone originale. Pharrell, nominato per il singolo Happy – contenuto nella soundtrack di Despicable Me 2 / Cattivissimo Me 2 e nella tracklist dell’ultimo album del cantante G I R L – si è esibito in una performance corale che ha coinvolto un gruppo di studenti, dei ballerini ma anche, off stage, alcuni nominati come Meryl Streep (August: Osage County), Amy Adams (American Hustle) e Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave).
