Ricorre oggi il 16° anniversario dei tragici attentati di New York. Un evento, quello accaduto l’11 settembre del 2001, che, per il carattere straordinario e per la sua devastante portata, ha segnato l’inizio del millennio in cui viviamo condizionandone scelte politiche, sociali ed economiche. L’attentato ha tristemente aperto le porte a un periodo storico dominato da ansia e terrore, da nuove destre e populismi, e non ultime, nuove stragi. La risposta del mondo della cultura, delle arti e della musica non è tardata ad arrivare stimolando riflessioni sulla precarietà dei concetti di sicurezza e libertà, alfieri della cultura occidentale, sulla paura dello “straniero” e sullo stesso sistema mediatico che quel giorno ci ha fatto vivere, in diretta e come nel peggiore dei disaster movies, un evento del tutto reale.
Citando lo scrittore Nicola Lagioia in un intervento su Nazione Indiana, «l’11 settembre, lungi dal suscitare una sincera presa di coscienza è stata un’apocalisse, nel suo significato etimologico però – apokálypsis: rivelazione, svelamento di senso. Ha messo a nudo, vale a dire, tutte le inossidabili miserie del nostro sistema mediatico e, quindi, anche del sentire comune». Un sentire che musicisti di ogni genere hanno prima fatto proprio e poi liberato traducendolo in note e parole.
