Il prossimo 2 novembre Columbia Records e Legacy Recordings faranno uscire Bob Dylan – More Blood, More Tracks – The Bootleg Series Vol. 14, ennesimo capitolo delle Bootleg Series dedicate al musicista americano. Questa volta, ad essere scandagliato è stato il materiale registrato nelle sessions per il disco Blood On The Tracks, dato alle stampe originariamente nel 1975.
La nuova pubblicazione rende disponibili le registrazioni effettuate in studio da Dylan del 1974: quattro realizzate a New York (16, 17, 18, 19) e due a Minneapolis (27 dicembre 30). La versione CD/2LP raccoglie 10 versioni alternative di ognuna delle 10 canzoni che compaiono su Blood On The Tracks, oltre a una versione inedita di Up to Me. La versione deluxe full-size da 6CD include invece le registrazioni complete di New York in ordine cronologico, comprensive di errori, false partenze e scherzi da studio: i produttori dell’album hanno lavorato con le migliori fonti audio disponibili, nella maggior parte dei casi utilizzando i multitraccia originali. Il cofanetto deluxe è un’edizione limitata. Questo box include un libro di foto con copertina rigida, note di copertina dello storico del rock Jeff Slate e una riproduzione completa di uno dei leggendari notebook di 57 pagine scritti a mano di Dylan, in cui è possibile seguire lo sviluppo testuale delle canzoni che hanno dato vita a Blood On The Tracks.
Nelle note di copertina di More Blood, More Tracks Jeff Slate scrive: «Le esibizioni sono state lasciate nello stato più vicino all’originale possibile. Durante la produzione di Blood On The Tracks, Dylan ha chiesto al produttore Phil Ramone di accelerare molti dei master del 2-3%, una pratica comune negli anni ’60 e ’70, in particolare per i dischi che venivano inviati alle radio AM. In More Blood, More Tracks, per la prima volta, sentiamo le canzoni esattamente come Dylan le ha registrate».
