Durante il concerto tenuto oggi a Glastonbury assieme all’Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, Damon Albarn ha espresso il suo rammarico per la vittoria di Brexit che porterà la Gran Bretagna fuori dall’Unione Europea. I toni usati dal leader dei Blur sono stati drammatici («Oggi sento una stretta al cuore. La democrazia ha fallito perché siamo male informati») ma un appello alla speranza è comunque stato lanciato («Vorrei che tutti voi sapeste che possiamo cambiare questa decisione. È possibile!»).
Riguardo all’epocale svolta dettata dal referendum, non sono stati pochi gli artisti che si sono uniti allo sconcerto, tra cui citiamo Johnny Marr («Nessuno ha mai detto che la maggioranza sappia ciò che fa. Un motivo in più per noi [della minoranza] per restare uniti»), Disclosure («In partenza per Marte con Bowie»), Ellie Goulding «(«Ho il cuore spezzato»), Lily Allen («Siamo fottuti»), Geoff Barrow («Bravi idioti»), Noel Gallagher («Black Day») e il fratello Liam («Fermate il mondo, voglio scendere»).
