Thurston Moore continua a produrre e pubblicare nuova e vecchia musica. A un mese dalla condivisione dell’inedito dei Chelsea Light Moving e dei 12 concerti dei Sonic Youth tenuti nel corso della carriera, il musicista classe ’58 (da qualche tempo di stanza a Londra) condivide via Bandcamp (e solo lì) l’inedito May Daze.
Il brano è recentissimo e porta con sé una dedica elettorale rivolta ai cittadini statunitensi («A soundtrack for our USA sisters + brothers to register as voters today, if you still need to»). È stato registrato ai Church di Londra due giorni fa dal Thurston Moore Group (Deb Googe al basso, Steve Shelley alla batteria, James Sedwards alla chitarra e Moore alla voce e alla chitarra) sotto la supervisione e produzione del noto Paul Epworth. Il tiro è decisamente Sonic Youth.

L’unico album dei Chelsea Light Moving è stato pubblicato da Matador nel 2013 (recensione di Tommaso Iannini), mentre per quanto riguarda Moore, il chitarrista ha pubblicato a settembre dello scorso anno una cover dei New Order (Leave Me Alone) e Spirit Counsel, un lavoro strumentale comprendente tre lunghe composizioni accreditate al Thurston Moore Group ispirate alla spiritualità nel jazz di Alice Coltrane (Alice Moki Jayne), al primo mentore dei Sonic Youth Glenn Branca (Spring Street) e a Galaxies di Sun Ra (recensione di Massimo Onza).
