La morte di Andy Gill, leader e fondatore dei Gang Of Four, ha scosso il mondo della musica rock. Numerosi, infatti, sono stati i messaggi di cordoglio da parte di molti suoi colleghi musicisti.
Uno dei primi a postare un messaggio è stato Tom Morello: «Sono tristissimo per la morte del grande Andy Gill – ha scritto il chitarrista dei Rage Against The Machine -, una delle mie principali fonti d’ispirazione alla chitarra. Il suo stile industrial disco/funk che iniziò a decostruire il mito del guitar hero, e il suo feroce, radicale e poetico intelletto sono stati importantissimi per me».
Numerosi altri messaggi sono arrivati – per citarne qualcuno – dal chitarrista dei Blur, Graham Coxon, da Gary Numan, dai Futureheads, dall’ex Cure Lol Tolhurst e dal cantautore americano Colin Meloy:

Riguardo ai Gang Of Four, su SA potete leggere la recensione scritta da Massimo Padalino del loro capolavoro Entertainment!, disco pubblicato nel 1979 e a dir poco epocale. L’ultimo lavoro in studio della band è stato Happy Now, dato alle stampe l’anno scorso e recensito su queste pagine da Valentina Zona. Del 2018, invece, era l’EP Complicit (review).
